Richard Dalton

Richard obtained a dual bachelor of science degree in computer science and mathematics from the University at Albany (New York), and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, one of the top U.S. universities, according to U.S. News and World Report. Both renowned public universities are as prestigious as UBC. He has taught university-entrance exams since 2005.

Craig

Craig specializes in teaching the SAT and ACT reading and writing sections, helping students gain entry to top U.S. universities. He obtained a bachelor of arts in history from the University of Victoria. After completing his TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate, Craig taught ESL (English as a Second Language) in Korea. Craig has helped students achieve top scores on the reading and writing sections.

Neha

Neha has been tutoring since 2011. Neha obtained a Bachelor of Education from Maharshi Dayanand University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delhi. She has helped students excel on SAT, ACT math and science, and GRE quantitative.

Neha teaches online only, for one hour per session.

Riaaz

Riaaz has been teaching the SAT and ACT for several years. He has excelled on standardized exams, having scored a 5 on the AP Chemistry, Calculus AB, Physics and Psychology exams, a perfect 36 on both the math and science sections of two previously administered ACT exams released as diagnostic tests by ACT Inc., the 96th percentile on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and in the 99th percentile for his composite Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) score.

Riaaz graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2015 with a BSc in Microbiology and Immunology.

He was awarded the AP Scholar with Distinction and a full scholarship from the Zimmerman Family Foundation.

Riaaz has since continued his studies in the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and has won multiple awards, including the 2018 CAPSI UBC Award of Professionalism, 2019 Apotex Inc. Future British Columbia Pharmacy Leader Award and the 2019 CAPSI National Future of Pharmacy Excellence Award.

Louisa

Louisa has experience tutoring students of all ages and in various topics, such as English to elementary school students and AP level subjects to high-school students.

She scored within the 99th percentile on the ACT and earned a near perfect score on the SAT II Biology test. On an diagnostic SAT, she scored a 770 on reading/writing and a 780 on math. She also earned perfect scores on the AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus tests. Louisa is a student at UBC pursuing an honours Bachelor of Science. She has a deep interest for the sciences, especially biology. A National Biology Scholar with Distinction after placing 18th in the University of Toronto’s National Biology Competition, Louisa has received a research scholarship from UBC to further pursue her passion in biology.

Percy

Percy has been tutoring students for over ten years, primarily in English and ESL. He earned his BA in medieval studies and English from the University of British Columbia, and his MA in the same from the University of Victoria. During his years as a student, his academic excellence awarded him admission to the Golden Key Honour Society and a scholarship for the best term essay. He subsequently also earned TESOL certification online and taught English in Daejeon, South Korea.

A life-longer learner, Percy is a voracious reader of classics, a student of history, philosophy and philology, and a creative writer. Percy loves to help people discover the richness of the English language and the joys of reading and writing through an understanding of the language’s structure and history, and an appreciation of the style of individual authors.

Johnson

Johnson is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics and minor in honours mathematics. He currently works full time as a software developer in Calgary, Alberta. He has been with Your Score Booster since 2015 as a tutor specializing in SAT and ACT mathematics and science subjects. During his studies at UBC, he also worked as research assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and at BC Cancer Research Centre. He also led various exam review sessions for undergraduate courses in mathematics and physics at UBC.

Luis

Luis, a native speaker of Spanish, was born in Medellin, Colombia. He has been tutoring Spanish since 2006. Luis, who obtained a perfect 800 on the SAT Spanish subject test, can help you excel on that exam. He also can help you learn Spanish for travel or business.

Brandon

Brandon has been tutoring students since he was in high school, including IB Mathematics SL and HL, and taught SAT Math during his summer terms in Korea. He scored a perfect 800 on the math section of SAT and a 780 on SAT II Math test. He graduated high school with an International Baccalaureate diploma and scored a 6 in IB Mathematics HL (Higher Level). He obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from UBC.

Harmandeep

Harmandeep has a passion for mathematics, physics and engineering, all of which he enjoys sharing with his students. Since he was fifteen, he has applied his skills and knowledge to many projects in and out of school. Some conversation starters for Harmandeep are topics in computer science, physics, AI, engineering, business, philosophy and video games. Harmandeep currently attends BCIT and is studying to become an engineer.

Faizan

Faizan helps secondary and elementary school students develop their
reading and writing skills. He has taught international students learning English as
a second language and domestic students learning to read texts closely. He is majoring in English Literature at Simon Fraser University and has consistently remained on the Dean’s list of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
In his first attempt at the SAT, he scored a perfect 800 on the Reading and Writing sections.

Yvonne Zacharias

Through her many years in journalism, Yvonne has become a master of the English language. She is passionate about teaching, finding great satisfaction when she has succeeded in imparting her knowledge and sharing her love of language with students.

She has an honors degree in English and French with credits obtained from the University of Saskatchewan, Laval University in Quebec City and Concordia University in Montreal.

She taught journalism at Concordia University and has worked for five newspapers in Canada, starting at the Chatham Daily News in Ontario, then moving to the Regina LeaderPost, the Calgary Herald, the Montreal Gazette and the Vancouver Sun.

She has covered many beats, including politics, health care, business and sports. She has also worked as a freelance writer for publications like Business in Vancouver and a New York City-based business news website.
Yvonne-Zacharias

Tom

Tom received his Ph.D. in Linguistics and MA in Classics from the University of California, Berkeley, and has taught a wide variety of language-related subjects both privately and as a college professor for many years. He has a deep familiarity with English grammar and literature and enjoys applying his linguistic expertise to find explanations that make intuitive sense to learners. He also teaches Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, and is a devotee of the jazz saxophone.

Bilal

Bilal has been tutoring since 2016 and has spent the last several years tutoring kids in school and coaching athletes on the field. He specializes in mathematics where he scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT as well as landing in the top five percent in countless math contests throughout high school and university. Bilal is working towards his Bachelor in Commerce at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business. In his studies at UBC, he has been on the Dean’s Honour Roll and been awarded major scholarships such as the Lydia Co for community involvement and academic excellence. Overall, he enjoys going above and beyond to help students reach their goals in math and focuses on tutoring SAT math.
